Welcome to Portland Opera Guild

Portland Opera Guild was established in 1960 by a dedicated group of volunteers supporting and promoting opera in the Portland area.  The Guild evolved into an organization that generously supports opera and opera education.  Our fifty years of service actually predates the formation of the Portland Opera Association.  The Guild was recently recognized by the presentation of the Portland Opera’s Aubrey N. Morgan Award for our vision and service to Portland Opera and to the art form in our region.
Please call (503)-294-0010 for membership information.

Next Luncheon - Madama Butterfly—January 27, 2012, 11:30 a.m. at the Multnomah Athletic Club

The Guild’s first luncheon of 2012 will take place on Friday, January 27th at the Multnomah Athletic Club. Of course, Portland Opera Assoc. Music Director, Rob Ainsley will be there to enlighten us about the Puccini masterpiece and to accompany our POSA singers to what will certainly be un bel dì! Click here for a luncheon registration form: Pre-paid discount rate ends 1/20/12.

Once each year your Portland Opera Guild holds an extremely important fund-raising event to support the educational programs at Portland Opera. The Portland Opera Studio Artists (POSA) program is one of the most notable of these endeavors. Without this effort, the art we cherish so much would have no future. A Guild Committee has already been hard at work organizing this stellar event,"Reach for the Stars." It will take place on Saturday evening, March 3, 2011, at Cheatham Hall, at the World Forestry Center, 4033 SW Canyon Road.

LINDSAY OHSE

Holiday Gathering November 30, 2011

The perfect setting for a Guild get-together was arranged by Kathi Snouffer and ably supported by the Portland Opera Guild Board on November 30, 2011. What fun to enjoy the pretty tables laden with goodies, and to hear the French musical bon-bons supplied by the Portland State University Opera Program in preview of their recital later in that week. Christine Meadows thanked all of you who have provided support to the Portland State University Opera Program in the past, and provided pledge envelopes for those who support the continuation of this unique program. Your contributions to the Oregon Food Bank were delivered in December, and stocked many shelves with much-needed supplies.

Matching funds will be eligible for the matching grant from Jeannine B. Cowles, a long time Guild member and generous supporter of PSU opera. Jeannine Cowles will match funds to underwrite student opera productions presented annually by the Department of Music of the School of Fine and Performing Arts.
